Privacy Policy
Dominican Spanish · Last updated: October 1, 2026
1. What we collect
Dominican Spanish has no user accounts and no server that stores anything about you. Your progress (lessons completed, XP, streak, settings) lives only on your device. We do not collect your name, email or contacts. The app fetches its audio from our website (section 4) and, if you do not have Pro, shows ads served by Google (section 7).
2. What stays on your device
- Your learning progress and settings.
- The year you enter to unlock the optional “bad words” section is used once to check your age and is not stored.
- Daily reminders are scheduled locally on your device and never leave it.
3. Microphone and speech recognition
Some exercises let you speak your answer or check your pronunciation. When you tap the microphone, the audio is processed by the speech recognition service of your device (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android, or your browser). That service may send audio to its provider for processing, under that provider’s own privacy policy. Dominican Spanish does not record, store or transmit the audio or the recognized text. You can deny microphone access and every exercise still works by tapping.
4. Audio served from our website
The course has thousands of recordings and most of them are too large to ship inside the app, so the app downloads them from our own website, interactivespanishbooks.com, the first time you play each one, and then keeps a copy on your device so it is not downloaded again.
Like any request to a website, that download tells our web host your device’s IP address, the file requested and the time. We do not use it to identify you and we cannot link it to your progress, because the app has no accounts and never sends your progress anywhere. We do not sell or share it. Our host keeps standard server logs for a short period, for security and troubleshooting.
Apart from the ads described in section 7, this is the only thing the app sends out on its own. It never uploads your answers, your recordings or your settings.
5. Purchases
The Pro subscription is sold through the App Store and Google Play and processed by RevenueCat, which manages subscription status. We receive an anonymous purchase identifier, never your payment details. You can manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
6. Live classes
If you book a live class, the app opens your email or messaging app with a prefilled message. Whatever you send is handled by that app and by the teacher’s email or WhatsApp account, not by Dominican Spanish.
7. Advertising
If you do not have Pro, the app shows a full-screen ad between lessons (at most three a day) and lets you choose to watch an ad to refill your hearts. Pro has no ads.
Ads are served by Google AdMob. To choose and measure ads, Google collects your device’s IP address (to estimate an approximate location), an advertising or device identifier, the ads you see and tap, how you interact with the app, and crash and performance data. This is governed by Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
On iPhone, the app asks for permission to track before the first ad. If you say no, you still see ads, just less personalized ones, and you can change it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and the US states that require it, Google asks for your consent first, and you can change it any time in Your account → Ad privacy choices.
Dominican Spanish itself never receives or stores this data.
8. Analytics and crash reports
Dominican Spanish sends no analytics and no crash reports of its own. Google’s ad service collects some crash and performance data, as section 7 explains. If this changes, this policy will be updated first.
9. Children
The app is rated 17+ in the stores, because it can show strong language and mentions alcohol and games of chance. The optional “bad words” section is off by default and requires confirming you are 18 or older; the year you enter is used once to do that check and is not stored.
10. Deleting your data
Because everything is on your device, deleting the app deletes all your data. Data collected by Google for ads is handled under Google’s policy (section 7). You can also use “Start over” in the Progress tab.
